What is undergoing analgosedation like?

Analgosedation is performed in dental surgeries by an anesthesiologist, who is present throughout the whole dental intervention.

A great number of dental procedures can be performed under short-term general anesthesia in combination with local anesthesia. This refers primarily to:

Analgosedation during dental interventions enables a painless treatment without discomfort, fear or gag and disgust reflexes. The sedated patient is awake during the whole process but has a feeling that he or she is “having a nap”. Afterward the patient doesn’t remember the course of the intervention.

What is undergoing analgosedation like?

The procedure of analgosedation is defined by a precise protocol that determines if the patient is a candidate for short-term general anesthesia. Depending on the patient’s general health condition a decision is made whether the consent of a GP is necessary or not.

After an interview with an anesthesiologist, which is conducted in our dental surgery, an intravenous cannula is placed and all drugs are administered intravenously. During the intervention, the patient is sedated and relaxed, completely safe and free from fear and pain. The anesthesiologist monitors the patient’s vital signs throughout the whole duration of the intervention.

Analgosedation shortens the duration of intervention because it reduces the patient’s discomfort. This makes it easier for the dentist to perform an intervention without any problems, safely and comfortably, and finish it at the scheduled time.

About 15-30 minutes after the dental procedure has been finished, the patient can go home safely and feel satisfied, knowing that the intervention was carried out successfully!
